Course Description

Microbiology is the study of microscopically small organisms such as bacteria, archaea, viruses, fungi, prions, protozoa and algae, collectively known as microbes, and their role in diseases and application in various commercial industries.

Course Learning Outcomes

After completing B.Sc. in Microbiology, students will be able to:

  • Understand the structure, function and metabolism, adaptation and evolution of different groups of microbes and their application in various industries such as medicine, industry, environment, genetics, agriculture, food, etc.
  • Apply their understanding and skills to analyse problems in relation to microbes and come up with logical and effective solutions
  • Demonstrate competence in using good microbiological practices while working with microbes in the laboratory and well as outside
  • Demonstrate the experimental techniques pertaining to the subject and express their findings in verbal, written and electronic formats
