Term : Full Time

Seats : 30

Semesters : 4

Admission : Merit based (as per VNSGU)

Course Description

Microbiology is the study of microscopically small organisms such as bacteria, archaea, viruses, fungi, prions, protozoa and algae, collectively known as microbes, and their role in diseases and application in various commercial industries.

Course Learning Outcomes

After completing M.Sc. in Microbiology, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate bimolecular knowledge and analytical skills at an advanced level
  • Apply knowledge acquired about prokaryotic and eukaryotic cellular processes, interaction of microorganisms among themselves, with physical and chemical agents and higher order organisms in environment and biological systems to various conditions
  • Have in-depth knowledge of biomolecules, bioanalytical techniques, advances in environmental microbiology and pharmaceutical microbiology, microbial physiology and enzyme kinetics, biostatistics and industrial microbiology
  • Address broad range of fields including biopolymer chemistry, marine biochemistry, environmental biotechnology, food science, microbial genetics, immunology, recombinant DNA technology, fermentation technology and molecular biology
  • Demonstrate the experimental techniques pertaining to the subject and express their findings in verbal, written and electronic formats
